When actor Elan Zafir and his wife Lindsay for the first time move to their two -bedroom apartment on Eastern 17, the rest of the New York City seemed to be heading towards the exits.
It was medium -sized, the apartment market was dramatically shifted, and while others fled, the Zafires doubled in the city life.
“I think most people were coming out because of Covid and we were getting into it,” told Zafir the Post, who currently appears as Rocco along with Jon Hamm in the Apple TV series “Friends & neighbors”.
Now, four years later, their Sanctuary Gramercy Park – 3D settlement at 210 E. 17th St. – is hitting the market for $ 800,000.
“We’re really sad that we’re leaving that area it’s so great,” he said.
Sorted with Michelle Griffith of Douglas Elliman, the apartment is part of the Beaux-arts cooperative known as “Mon Bijou”, a building whose name, translating into “Jewel My”, reflects Zafir’s direct charm that they will lose more.
“Likes like an oasis when you get there. It is a quiet shocking,” he said. “You can’t hear like nothing and there is this big church you are facing the back of this has all this moss in it.”
The 1,000 -square -foot house is sunk in the sun, with seven excess windows and southern and eastern exposure, including the appearance of St. George’s historic church.
French doors lead to a primary bedroom with double closures, and the updated kitchen includes full -sized appliances and a unit washer/dryer.
But Zafir said the real appeal is the feeling of the community.
“I know everyone in the building,” he said. “My baby can go downstairs to let her friend go into a game.
Zafir has lived throughout New York since arriving in July 2000 – Canal Street on September 11, The East Village, Crown Heights. But it was this Gramercy pocket that finally felt like a house.
“You are two blocks by East Village, two other blocks from Eataly to Madison Square Park. You’re like half a block by Stayvesant Square Park – which is just beautiful – and they have tango a few nights, and concerts and they show movies there.”
A classically trained scene actor who has performed with institutions such as Tfana, The Mama, and Classic Stage Company, Zafir said the proximity of the apartment to the city’s cultural essence made it easy to deceive auditions and rehearsals in the municipality.
“I could walk to Chinatown and just get whatever I wanted. It was just as easy to go,” he said. “I’m always like working in a different theater … I worked in the classic scene and it was easy to get to work.”
He and Lindsay, who have previously worked from a distance to forget and is now a professor at Cuny, are moving to Morningside Heights for more space and to be closer to work and schools.
“My son is coming to move with me … so we need a proper three bedroom bedroom,” Zafir added. “We have Sarah [his daughter] to a good school. We’re happy about it … but it’s just nothing like where we were. “
The mass marks a new chapter, but not a slight departure.
“The apartment is super cute. When it was only me, my wife, my dog and my 7-year-old, all of us just liked to sleep in bed and be all stacked. I’ve got really fond memories of it,” Zafir said.
“Life became very easy, and so – we’re not looking forward to leaving, be honest.”
